Laura Benanti will leave the role she created in the Tony nominated Best Musical, Swing on Nov. 5. Production sources say that Benanti will be replaced by Jennifer Schrader. Benanti earned her own Tony nomination for Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Musical for Swing!, as did her cast mate, Anne Hampton Callaway.
Benanti will be joining the MTC production of Time and Again which is scheduled to start next spring. Benanti participated in a May 1999 workshop of the musical by composer-lyricist Walter Edgar (Skip) Kennon and librettist Jack Viertel.
Benanti's other credits include The Sound of Music on Broadway and Encore!' Wonderful Town.
