Lea DeLaria's recent cabaret performances at the Public Theater's Joe's Pub in Manhattan have proved so successful that two extra dates have been added. In addition to her May 3 engagement, DeLaria will perform May 7 and 8. The act, titled "It's Delightful, It's Delicious, It's DeLaria," inaugurated the new "Diva Series" at Joe's Pub April 19. All shows are at 8:30 PM.
DeLaria is backed by a three-piece band and sings a variety of jazz and Broadway selections, spiced with bits of comedy.
Also on Joe's Pub's spring schedule are:
* Mary Cleere Haran and accompanist Richard Rodney Bennett, in a tribute to Fred Astaire (part of the "Diva Series"), May 10 and 11.
* Singer Ann Hampton Calloway, performing selections from her new album "Easy Listening" (also part of the "Diva Series"), May 13-15, 20 22.
* Another "Diva Series" member, Ute Lemper, singing Kurt Weill, May 26 28, June 3-5.
* Composer Jason Robert Brown (not a diva), performing music from his musical Parade, May 17.
Joe's Pub, a new bar and night spot enclosed with the Public Theater, opened its doors last fall. It has since housed such talents as Audra McDonald, Comden and Green and Dawn Upshaw.
