Sacharow, who died on Aug. 14, was director of the theatre program at the Lincoln Center campus of Fordham University. Pope Auditorium is at 113 W. 60 St. in Manhattan.
Sacharow directed the widely acclaimed production of Albee's Three Tall Women, for which he won a Lucille Lortel Award in 1994. As well, he directed Seldes and Brian Murray in the 2003 Off Broadway staging of Beckett/Albee. As founder of the River Arts Repertory in Woodstock, NY, Sacharow directed by American premieres of Viva Detroit by Derek Walcott and Hunting Cockroaches by Janusz Glowacki. In 1967, he staged the groundbreaking play The Concept at Cafe La Mama, written and performed by residents of Daytop Village about their experiences at the drug rehabilitation center.
Speakers at the Sept. 14 memorial will also include Father Joseph M. McShane, president of Fordham University; actress Didi O'Connell; Matthew Maguire, professor of theatre and acting director of Fordham's theatre program; Fordham theatre alumni Colin Hodges and Mike Kimmel, and Sacharow's daughter, Anya.
In addition to Anya, Sacharow is survived by his wife Michele, daughter Nina, and a grandson.
