Linda Gray's association with The Graduate goes back a lot further than most people realize. Middle-aged men with fond memories of Linda Gray's role as drink-fuelled sex symbol Sue-Ellen Ewing, wife and occasional enemy of oil-baron JR, have been given an added thrill to that of anticipating a glimpse of her naked when she takes over the role of Mrs Robinson in The Graduate on 1st October.

It transpires that the long and shapely leg seen on the iconic film poster of the movie version of The Graduate. belonged not, as we all assumed for thirty years, to Anne Bancroft, but to the young Linda Gray, who worked as a model as well as an actress.

Her appearance on the stage of the Gielgud Theatre thus brings her full circle, and will inevitably give a further burst of publicity to a show which is proving its long-term durability, having opened on 5th April 2000 and comfortably passed its 500th performance.
