News Lion King's Hoyle Brings Feast of Fools to San Francisco Jan. 22-Feb. 16 Geoff Hoyle, who created the role of Zazu in Julie Taymor's The Lion King, returns to California with his Feast of Fools, playing San Francisco's Marines Memorial Theatre Jan. 22-Feb. 16.

Before his stint at The Lion King, Hoyle toiled for 25 years in the New Vaudeville, clowning with Bill Irwin in the Pickle Family Circus and with the Cirque du Soleil. While his last solo show, The First Hundred Years, was a history of vaudevillian stage and television, Feast of Fools (formerly entitled Hoyle in One) looks at the latest breed of stage clown, using mime, acrobatics and juggling. Joining Hoyle on stage is composer Gina Leishman, who last performed with him in 1990's Don Quixote de La Jolla. She has also worked with the Flying Karamazov Brothers and recently premiered her first opera, Burning Dreams, in San Diego.

Feast of Fools premiered at San Diego's La Jolla Playhouse in June 2002 before traveling to the Edinburgh Festival and London. Richard Seyd (Dario Fo's The Pope and the Witch) directs in San Francisco as he did previously.

Tickets are $25-$45. The Marines Memorial Theatre is located at 609 Sutter Street at Mason. For reservations, call (415) 346-7805. The Marines Memorial Theatre is on the web at http://www.marinesmemorialtheatre.com.
