As previously reported, Pulitzer-winning playwright David Auburn has penned the new adaptation of the 1957 play, which is aiming for a fall 2009 Broadway revival under the direction of Daniel Sullivan (Proof) at a Shubert theatre. No official dates of the production have been announced. Sullivan will direct the invitation-only reading that will feature Lithgow (All My Sons) and Jones (Doubt) as well as 2009 Tony nominee Thomas Sadoski (Reasons to Be Pretty) and Paul Dano (Inherit the Wind).
August: Osage County producers Jeffrey Richards, Jerry Frankel and Steve Traxler present the reading.
Based on the 1929 Thomas Wolf novel, Look Homeward, Angel is a coming-of-age story of a young man desperate to escape his loving but deeply embattled family.
