News London's We Will Rock You Announces New Cast for 10th Year
Kevin Kennedy, best known for playing the role of Curly Watts in the British TV series "Coronation Street" between the years 1983 and 2003, will join the West End cast of We Will Rock You beginning Sept. 6.

He will lead a company of returning and new cast members as the show enters its tenth year at the West End's Dominion Theatre. Kennedy will play the role of Pop, the "hippie" who alone knows the secret of the "hidden rock" and will take any measures to keep them concealed; he was previously seen in the musical's UK tour in 2009.

He joins former "X-Factor" star Brenda Edwards as the Killer Queen, who also previously played the same role in the UK tour with Kennedy, and has been playing the role in the West End for a limited season to replace Mazz Murray, who is off on maternity leave. From Sept. 20, Edwards will have two weeks leave to appear in the Young Vic's production of Human Comedy, during which time she will be covered by Lucy Tapp and Tricia Adele-Turner.

Ricardo Alfonso will return to the company to play break-away rebel and dreamer Galileo that he previously played from 2007-2009, while Sarah French – who has previously covered the role of Scaramouche in the West End and played the role on tour — will return to play it full-time. Rachel John will assume the role of Meat from Nov. 1, in her first West End leading role after ensemble and cover roles in Sister Act and The Lion King. Prior to her arrival, the role will be played by Amanda Coutts through Oct. 2, then covered by Lauren Varnham to Oct. 30.

Alex Bourne and Ian Carlyle will continue to play Khashoggi and Britney, respectively.

We Will Rock You is now booking through April 2011. To book tickets, contact the box office on 0844 847 1775, or visit for more details.
