News Mark Rylance in Talks to Join Cast of Disney's "Through the Looking Glass" Tony winner Mark Rylance, seen on Broadway earlier this season in the Shakespeare's Globe productions of Twelfth Night and Richard III, is currently in negotiations to join the cast of Disney's "Through the Looking Glass," according to Variety.

The sequel to "Alice in Wonderland" would cast the critically acclaimed actor as the father of the Mad Hatter, played by Johnny Depp. The film will also feature Helena Bonham Carter and Mia Wasikowska.

"Through the Looking Glass," which will be directed by James Bobin and produced by Joe Roth, is scheduled for a May 27, 2016, release.

Production is expected to begin this summer.

In addition to his stage credits, Rylance has been seen on screen in “Anonymous” and “The Gunman."
