News Mary Beth Fisher is Amanda in Court Theatre's The Glass Menagerie Chicago's Court Theatre will present is new staging of Tennessee Williams' memory play The Glass Menagerie. Court artistic director Charles Newell will direct the piece, running March 9 to April 9 and opening March 18 at the intimate, 251-seat Ableson Auditorium.

Mary Beth Fisher, a Chicago theatre favorite best known for creating roles in Rebecca Gilman's plays Spinning Into Butter and Boy Gets Girl (a role she recreated Off-Broadway at Manhattan Theatre Club), will play Amanda Wingfield, the controlling and increasingly desperate Southern Belle mom of crippled Laura and restless Tom. Chaon Cross plays Laura, Ned Noyes is the Gentleman Caller and Jay Whittaker takes on narrator Tom.

The design team includes John Culbert (set), Nan Cibula-Jenkins (costumes), Marc Stubblefield, (lights) and Andre J. Pluess and Ben Sussman (sound).
