News Mary Pat Gleason and New Cast Head to Boston for Lisa Kron's Well Mary Pat Gleason and more will join Lisa Kron for the upcoming Huntington Theatre Company's Boston run of Well.

Leigh Silverman — who staged the Off-Broadway world premiere, the Broadway and San Francisco runs and the previous Sundance Theatre Lab workshop — returns to direct. The production will begin March 9 and open March 14 for a run at Huntington's mainstage at the Boston University Theatre through April 8.

In Well, Kron leads the audience through stories of her childhood and family. This time, however, the solo performer surrounds herself with a cast — who portray various characters — and her barrier-breaking mother. The characters and Kron, at times, give way to the conventions of theatre, breaking into the words of the actors themselves.

Joining Kron for the Boston run are Mary Pat Gleason (Stopping Traffic) as her mother with Colman Domingo (Henry V, Bright Ideas), Donnetta Lavinia Grays ("Law & Order: SVU"), John McAdams (The Laramie Project) and Barbara Pitts (The Laramie Project). (Grays and Domingo served as understudies for the Broadway run.)

The A.C.T. production of Well also features members of the Broadway design team, including Tony Walton (sets), Christopher Akerlind (lighting), Miranda Hoffman (costumes) and John Gromada (sound and original music). Stephen M. Kaus serves as production stage manager.

Playwright-performer Kron also penned 2.5 Minute Ride and 101 Humiliating Stories. As an actress, she has appeared in The Vagina Monologues and The Most Fabulous Story Ever Told. Director Silverman has staged Jump/Cut (Woolly Mammoth Theatre), Wit (London’s West End and Los Angeles' Geffen Theatre), How I Learned to Drive (Actors Theatre of Louisville), The Ride Down Mt. Morgan (Washington, D.C.'s Theatre J) and Blown Sideways Through Life (Adirondack Theatre Festival). She also served as associate director on Broadway’s Never Gonna Dance.

Huntington currently presents Anton Chekhov's The Cherry Orchard starring Kate Burton, Dick Latessa, Joyce Van Patten and Mark Blum (through Feb. 4). Following Lisa Kron's Well (March 9-April 8) will be Noah Haidle's Persephone (March 30-May 6) and Noël Coward's Present Laughter (May 18-June 17) starring Victor Garber.

Tickets to Well at Huntington's B. U. Theatre, 264 Huntington Ave. in Boston, MA, are available by phone at (617) 266-0800 or online at huntingtontheatre.org.
