Massachusetts' North Shore Music Theatre, in association with Boston's Huntington Theatre Company, will present Gilbert and Sullivan's The Mikado, June 29-July 18. The production comes to The Beverly-based theatre after a run at The Huntington, May 21-June 26.
Set in a fictitious Imperial Japan that resembles and lampoons Victorian England, Mikado tells the love story of Prince Nanki-Poo, son of the Mikado (supreme emperor), and his true love Yum-Yum, now betrothed to her guardian Ko-Ko, who resides in the town of Titipu.
Larry Carpenter helms the production, with Daniel Pelzig choreographing. James Leonard Joy will design scenery, Mariann Verheyen is costume designer, and Donald Holder (Lion King) will design lights.
The cast includes J.B. Adams, Marsha Bagwell, Marie Danvers, Colleen Firstenberger, James Javore, Kari McGee, Larry Paulsen, Eric Van Hoven, and Kenneth Kantor.
