News McDonough's Travels of Angelica Begins Cincinnati Run Jan. 20 The world premiere of Joseph McDonough's Travels of Angelica arrives at the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park Jan. 20.

The time-bending work features direction by Playhouse artistic director Edward Stern. Travels of Angelica will continue through Feb. 15 in the Robert S. Marx Theatre.

The cast features Sarah Dandridge, Joneal Joplin, Erik Lochtefeld, Jason Schuchman, Greg Thornton, Jo Twiss and Heather Wood.

Press notes for the world premiere read: "1657: A writer wanted for treason barely escapes from England with his daughter to start a new life with a new identity in Virginia. Can he outwit his blackmailing neighbor and escape capture before completing his most important work? 2008: Two graduate students come to Virginia in search of clues about this forgotten author, hoping to make an important literary discovery. As the play twists and turns between the past and present, this time-traveling tale explores history, hope, heart and the possibility of a remarkable future."

The production team comprises set designer Joseph P. Tilford, lighting designer Thomas C. Hase, costume designer Susan Tsu, sound designer Fitz Patton and projection designer John Boesche.

Travels of Angelica is the 2008 winner of the Mickey Kaplan New American Play Prize. McDonough's Stone My Heart was also awarded the prize in 2006.
