The California stage will open the work Dec. 5 for a run through Jan. 4, 2004. Artistic director Timothy Near directs.
Wintertime follows a man who is about to propose at a secluded snowbound house when he finds that his mother and her lover already occupy the cabin. As if that was not enough, the father then shows up with his boyfriend.
The cast includes Joseph J. Parks, Soraya Broukhim, Suzan Hanson, Michael Butler, James Carpenter, Perry Ojeda, Wilma Bonet, Catherine E. Coulson, Charles Dean and Mari-Esther Magaloni.
The design team includes Giulio Cesare Perrone (set), Shigeru Yaji (costume), Lap Chi Chu (lighting) and Steve Schoenbeck (sound).
The coupled comedy has already seen stagings at the La Jolla Playhouse, Seattle's ACT, Minneapolis' Guthrie Lab, New Haven's Long Wharf and New Jersey's McCarter Center. The new work from the author of First Love, True Love and Big Love finally makes its way to New York via Second Stage in the new year with Marsha Mason.
