Los Angeles' Matrix Theatre Company will host Tony Award and two time Emmy Award winner Michael Morairty, (best known for his role as Ben Stone on Law and Order) in his one-man show A Special Providence for a limited engagement beginning August 13.

Moriarty's one-man show, which has previously been performed in London, depicts four characters as they journey through time, espousing on various topics and themes such as religion, literature, philosophy, etc. Moriarty feels that the play is about how William Shakespeare saved his life.

Moriarty's first performance at the Matrix on August 13 will be a benefit for the successful theatre company, with tickets ranging from $100 to 500. Moriarty will perform four more shows at $27.50, on August 14, 19 21, at 8pm. The final show includes a post performance discussion.

Michael Moriarty won the 1974 Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play, for his work in Find Your Way Home.

Currently playing at the Matrix Theatre is Caryl Churchill's Mad Forest, through September 1. --By Blair Glaser
