Lincoln Center's "American Songbook" concert series offers three intimate cabaret performances Nov. 16-18 featuring respective solo turns by jazz singer Jane Monheit, opera soprano Harolyn Blackwell and singer-composer Kenny Rankin.
The Nov. 17 performance by Blackwell (the Cunegonde of Broadway's most recent Candide revival) marks her cabaret program debut. This is the second season of the Songbook cabaret series, a spinoff of the concert Songbook presentations, which focus on composers and lyricists. Jonathan Schwartz is artistic director.
Monheit will sing a tribute to Ella Fitzgerald, Blackwell will offer an eclectic program ranging from opera to Broadway show tunes to a Supremes medley, and Rankin will sing his own work.
Performances are 8 and 10 PM at the Stanley H. Kaplan Penthouse, on the Lincoln Center campus, 165 W. 65th Street, 11th Floor. For information, call (212) 721-6500.
