According to Variety, the Nederlanders are in talks to buy the California Angels from another theatre powerhouse, Disney. No deal has yet been reached. The club is expected to fetch $200 million. James Nederlander Sr. and his brother Robert are limited partners in the New York Yankees; under baseball regulations, they would have to divest their interest in the New York team if they were to purchase the Angels.
The Nederlanders own nine Broadway theatres, including the Brooks Atkinson, Gershwin, Lunt-Fontanne, Marquis, Minskoff, Nederlander, Palace, Richard Rodgers and Neil Simon. They also own and operate other theatres across the nation.
The Nederlanders are also producers, currently behind such shows as Movin' Out and Thoroughly Modern Millie
