News New Comedy Boom Makes World Premiere at the Ars Nova March 5 Peter Sinn Nachtrieb's comedy Boom begins its world-premiere engagement at the Ars Nova March 5.

Directed by Alex Timbers, Boom will officially open March 20 and play a six-week run through April 13. The cast comprises Megan Ferguson, Lucas Near-Verbrugghe and Susan Wands.

In Boom, press notes state, "something is about to explode and the fate of humanity hangs in the balance. When Jo answers Jules' casual-encounters ad seeking 'intensely significant coupling,' she has no idea what she is in for. Stuck in his makeshift lab-turned-shelter and surrounded by cabinets full of bourbon, a lifetime supply of tampons and only a tank of fish for company, they're in for one hell of a blind date."

The production includes set design by Wilson Chin, lighting design by Marcus Doshi, costume design by Emily Rebholz and sound design by Mark Huang.

Peter Sinn Nachtrieb's plays include Hunter Gatherers, Colorado, Meaningless and The Amorphous Blob. Hunter Gatherers received the 2007 American Theatre Critics Association/Steinberg New Play Award and the 2007 Will Glickman Prize for best new play in the Bay Area. He is currently under commission from Encore Theatre Company and South Coast Rep and is a 2008 Resident Playwright at the Playwrights Foundation, San Francisco.

Show times March 5-23 are Wednesday-Saturday at 8 PM and Sunday at 7 PM; the March 27-April 13 schedule is Thursday-Saturday at 8 PM and Sunday at 7 PM.
