News New York Pops 2012-13 Season Populated by Seth MacFarlane, Norm Lewis, Paulo Szot, Kelli O'Hara, Music of Stephen Schwartz Broadway music and stars will punctuate the 2012-13 of the New York Pops at Carnegie Hall, music director Steven Reineke announced on Jan. 26. Paulo Szot, Kelli O'Hara and the work of Wicked songwriter Stephen Schwartz will be heard.

The five-concert subscription series will also include tributes to songwriter Sammy Cahn and the groundbreaking team of musical dramatists Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II.

The season's performers include Broadway's Julia Murney, O'Hara, Szot, Jennifer Laura Thompson, Aaron Lazar, Norm Lewis, "Family Guy" creator Seth MacFarlane (himself a respected crooner), Pink Martini, 
Essential Voices USA and New York Theater Ballet.

"Celebrate Stephen Schwartz's 65th birthday and the 10th anniversary of his hit musical Wicked, with a program that highlights his compositions."

The New York Pops is the largest independent pops orchestra in the United States, and the only professional symphonic orchestra in New York City specializing in popular music. Led by music director Steven Reineke, the orchestra performs an annual subscription series and birthday gala at Carnegie Hall. The New York Pops was founded by Skitch Henderson in 1983 with a mission to create greater public awareness and appreciation of America's rich musical heritage.
