Established Hollywood stars continue to line up for high profile stage gigs. The latest is Nicole Kidman, who will appear in David Hare's new play The Blue Room at London's Donmar Warehouse this fall.
Kidman, who has acted on stage in Australia but has yet to set foot on professional English or American boards, will play a five-week engagement beginning Sept. 23. Kidman's film credits include Portrait of a Lady and To Die For.
Blue Room is a two-character drama loosely based on Arthur Schnitzler's La Ronde. Kidman and co-star Iain Glenn will play five sets of romantic couples.
Another Hollywood heavy currently making his West End debut is Kevin Spacey, who is starring at the Old Vic as Hickey in O'Neill's The Iceman Cometh. There are plans to bring that production to Broadway's O'Neill Theatre sometime next spring.
In other news, Jennifer Jason Leigh (Single White Female, Georgia) is taking over for Natasha Richardson as Sally Bowles in the hit Broadway revival of Cabaret. Richardson is returning to England after Aug. 2 with husband and The Judas Kiss star Liam Neeson, another Hollywood light currently brightening the stage.
