Get well soon to Stewart Klein, longtime theatre critic for New York's channel five (WNYW Fox 5 New York), now home resting comfortably after being hospitalized with a mild stroke. Fox 5 public relations spokesperson Beth Jaffe confirmed the Daily News' report of the ailment and said in a Feb. 3 statement, "Stew had a mini stroke and is recovering nicely. We are not setting a time frame for his return to the station, since his recuperation will require a great deal of rest." Jaffe did not know whether the station would use an interim critic.
Klein began his journalism career as a copy boy for the Philadelphia Enquirer and later as a columnist and editor for the Philadelphia Daily News. A critic of both theatre and film, Klein joined The Fox Five 10 O'Clock News in 1967 and has been with "Good Day New York" since 1988.
