NYC's Dixon Place, the downtown solo performance haven where John Leguizamo, The Blue Man Group, Lisa Kron and Peggy Shaw all started their careers will be moving from their Bowery Street second floor loft into the Vineyard Theatre old space on East 26th Street. The Vineyard still owns the space and have been using the building for smaller productions, workshops and as a rehearsal space.

Dixon Place's artistic director, Ellie Covan won an OBIE Award last month for sustained achiement in theatre.

An employee of Dixon Place told PBOL (June 4), "We're looking forward to moving into the new space, we're very excited about it. When Dixon Place moved from a little storefront on East 1st Street in 1991 it was a big step forward; this is another big step.

"Both the the former places were Ellie's [Covan] home, and this is more of a theatre. We're ready to take the next step in offering the artists more support and production."
