The Shakespeare Society presentation of Sir Derek Jacobi discussing "My Life with Shakespeare," a talk with Roger Rees, takes place at the Sylvia and Danny Kaye Playhouse in Manhattan on March 6.
Scheduled to star together in the upcoming Roundabout Theatre Company production of Uncle Vanya in April, Jacobi and Rees are supporting the Society's membership drive with this event, which is free to the public. Though the discussion is free, event organizers insist on reservations.
Jacobi will discuss his outstanding career as a Shakespearean actor and director with Rees. Select video clips of his roles will be shown. The program concludes with the presentation of The Shakespeare Society Medal to Jacobi in recognition of his contribution to the organization's appreciation of Shakespeare.
The Society has presented such programs as "Shakespeare's Great Soliloquies," "Love and Courtship in Shakespeare," "Hamlets on Film," "The Macbeths — Their Ambition & Relationship," "Women of Will—Ladies Who Shake the World of Shakespeare" and others. "My Life with Shakespeare" and The Society's next event, titled "A Midsummer Night's Dream," on Monday, May 8th, are directed by Rees.
The Sylvia and Danny Kaye Playhouse is located at 68th Street between Park and Lexington Avenues, from 6:30 - 8 PM. For reservations call the Shakespeare Society at (212) 327-3399. -- By Murdoch McBride
