NY's Daedalus Theatre Company will present the 1908 folk drama, The Magic Glasses, by Irish playwright George Fitzmaurice at the CSV Cultural Center (107 Suffolk Street), March 25-April 18.
In Glasses, a boy named Jaymony has himself three sets of magic glasses - through which he can see himself inhabit worlds of knights, beautiful maidens and fantasy. Jaymony's journeys begin to worry his parents, who send for a man named Quille when, more and more, Jaymony withdraws from our world into the world of the glasses.
The cast includes: Mary Christopher, Christopher Crofton, Linda Donald, Michael Early, and Jonathon Bartlett Lester. Daedalus co-founder, Richard Nash-Siedlecki will direct.
Founded in 1995, the Daedalus Theatre Company presents uncelebrated (or unknown) Irish plays to American audiences. Recent productions include: Rita Anne Higgins' Face Licker Come Home, James Joyce's Exiles, and White Woman Street by Sebastian Barry.
