News Off-Broadway's NEWSical the Musical Celebrates Two Years Off-Broadway Dec. 14 The Off-Broadway revue NEWSical the Musical, described as "the forever changing, completely un-sanitized musical mockery of all the news that's fit to spoof," celebrates two years on Theatre Row Dec. 14.

The production has been nominated for five Drama Desk Awards and was the first recipient of The Off Broadway Alliance Award for Best New Musical. It is also the longest-running, continuous, eight-show-a-week production to ever play Off-Broadway's Theatre Row.

"From Oprah leaving daytime to the 2012 Olympics to Bloomberg's sign language interpreter and even Honey Boo Boo Child, NEWSical the Musical," according to press notes, "has kept audiences cheering (and spilling over their seats in laughter) by setting all of the latest pop culture headlines to song. With its script constantly being updated to reflect the latest world happenings, NEWSical the Musical launched at Theatre Row with 'Full Spin Ahead!,' starring Drama Desk nominee and Sirius Radio host Christine Pedi (Talk Radio, Little Me), Michael West (When Pigs Fly), John Walton West, Amy Griffin (How the Grinch Stole Christmas), Tommy Walker (Evil Dead The Musical) and Drama Desk nominee Christina Bianco (Forbidden Broadway)."

The current production stars Cheri Oteri ("Saturday Night Live"), Pedi, West, Walker, Ryan Knowles (host of "Nickelodeon's ME:TV"), Susan Mosher (Hairspray) and Emily McNamara. Recent cast members included Perez Hilton and Andrea McArdle.

"I'm proud of and grateful to everyone who helped us make it this far," said producer Tom D'Angora in a statement. "I look forward to many more ridiculous news stories and fabulous guest stars in the New Year."

Rick Crom is the creator and writer of NEWSical the Musical, which features direction by Mark Waldrop. Rounding out the creative team are Ed Goldschneider (music director), Jason Courson (set designer) and Ryan Obermeier (stage manager). Theatre Row is located at 410 West 42nd Street.
