Thomas Cote has assumed direction of the musical, which began performances Oct. 28 under the original direction of Steven Petrillo. Sessions officially opens Jan. 14, 2009, and will continue through Jan. 31, 2009. The cast comprises Hickok (Little Women) as Dr. Peterson, Days (Aida) as Leila, Al Bundonis (Whistle Down the Wind), Natalie Buster, Scott Richard Foster (Brooklyn), Jennings (Sweeney Todd), Larsen (Hairspray), Kelli Maguire and Sky Seals.
Sessions, according to production notes, "centers around Dr. Peter Peterson, an affluent New York therapist who discovers his own life is as much in need of examination as those of his patients. Among those causing Dr. Peterson angst are the bickering Murphys, the loner George, the aptly named Sunshine, the troubled Mary, the millionaire Baxter, and Dylan who really believes he is THAT (Bob) Dylan. On top of it all is Leila, the femme fatale with eyes...and long, long legs...for Dr. Peterson."
Penny Ayn Mass and James Horvath choreograph, with musical direction by Steven Gross.
Sessions features book, music and lyrics by Albert Tapper, who also penned Imperfect Chemistry and From Where I Stand.
