Billed as “a new comedy about Jewish Mexican-Americans living in Texas,” Monica Yudovich’s Hermanas will play five performances at Classic Stage Company beginning Aug. 12. Claudia Zelevansky directs a cast that features Duncan as well as Miss Universe 2001 Denise Quiñones, Kathryn Kates, Paolo Andino, Adriana Gaviria, Bridget Moloney and playwright Yudovich.
The creative team also includes Robin Vest (set design) and Chloe Chapin (costume design).
“Just when 22 year-old Lisette Hermán chooses stability,” reads production notes for Hermanas, “instability crashes into her life in the form of a rebellious sister, a dyslexic Latin Lover, a Hispanic-obsessed farm girl, an intriguing new neighbor and the most outrageous mother of all madres. [The play] explores relationships, independence, and the often hilarious complications sparked by the blending of languages and cultures.”
Performance dates and times are Aug. 12 at 4:45 PM, Aug. 13 at 7:15 PM, Aug. 24 at 6:15 PM, Aug. 25 at 10 PM and Aug. 27 at noon.
