News Pachomski and Trese Join Reeder for A Doll's House at Long Wharf Principal casting is now complete for the Long Wharf Theatre's contemporary adaptation of Henrik Ibsen's A Doll's House, which will star Ana Reeder as the drama's heroine, Nora.

Newly added to the cast are Maegan Pachomski as Helene and Adam Trese (Broadway's Twelve Angry Men, A View from the Bridge) as the controlling Torvald. They join Reeder (Top Girls, Sight Unseen), Linda Powell (On Golden Pond) as Kristine, Mark Nelson (Bridge Project's Winter's Tale, Cherry Orchard) as Krogstad and Tim Hopper (Picasso at the Lapin Agile) as Rank.

Several ensemble roles remain to be cast.

Long Wharf Theatre artistic director Gordon Edelstein will direct; he also adapted the script. Performances run April 28-May 23.

"I adapted Ibsen’s play in much the same way I adapted Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya," Edelstein said in a statement. "I am doing Ibsen’s play as he wrote it, except that I am making the language speak able in today’s words. Most translations are Victorian and stuffy. I’ve cut out some of the repetitive beats and simplified some of the overwrought plot points."

The design team will include Michael Yeargan (set design), Jessica Ford (costume design), Russell H. Champa (lighting design) and David Budries (sound design). According to Long Wharf, "Nora, a vibrant young woman, has surrounded herself with the trappings of the perfect life. She prides herself in three beautiful children, a big comfortable house, and a handsome husband who has a new job at a large investment bank. But the illusion of her success is about to fade as the secret that hold her family together is exposed for all to see. Edelstein's world-premiere adaptation casts Ibsen's ground-breaking, 19th-century drama in a visceral contemporary light."
