Classic Arts News Pavarotti's Annual Benefit to Take Place in Brazil; Tenor Will Teach Students at Modena Conservatory Luciano Pavarotti's annual benefit concert will not take place in his home town of Modena, as it has for the last ten years, but in Brazil, the Associated Press reported today.
The Pavarotti and Friends concert will take place this December in Sê£o Paolo. No explanation was given for the change in venue.

In a separate announcement, Pavarotti said that he would be giving singing lessons to 24 students, to be chosen at the end of the month, at the Orazio Vecchi conservatory, a state-funded school in Modena. According to Agence-France Presse, the two-year course, which includes classes in theory and history, gives students the equivalent of a master's degree.

At a press conference announcing the new venture, the singer said that his students should sing professionally during their training in order to cover living costs.
