Though Penn Jillette has an Off-Broadway show he's written (Recreation) opening on Oct. 17, he's currently in Las Vegas with his partner, Teller. The Vegas gig (with a special San Francisco benefit in between) is nothing new for the macabre magic duo, but they ARE at work on a new show that they expect will come to Broadway either in the spring of '97, or more likely, in the fall or spring `98.
Audiences in California will get a one-week preview of Penn & Teller's new show Nov. 28-Dec. 3 at La Jolla Playhouse -- part of the theatre's "Flash" Performance series.
Publicist Ken Krasher Lewis made it clear that if they do come to New York, they want to do so with almost entirely new material, "and they want to work that material and get it right before it comes in."
Reluctant to divulge any secrets, Lewis did note that one new routine is called "The Double Bullet Catch."
New Vaudeville magicians, Penn & Teller have performed at least three Broadway and Off-Broadway engagements, including Penn & Teller: The Refrigerator Tour and Penn & Teller Rot in Hell. -- By David Lefkowitz
