News PHOTO CALL: A Cool Dip in the Barren Saharan Crick Opens at Playwrights Horizons Playwrights Horizons, The Play Company and Culture Project celebrated the March 28 Off-Broadway opening of their co-production, A Cool Dip in the Barren Saharan Crick.

Chay Yew directs the new piece by Kia Corthron. The company consists of Keith Eric Chappelle (Cyrano de Bergerac), William Jackson Harper (Ruined), Joshua King, Kianné Muschett (The Brother/Sister Plays) and Myra Lucretia Taylor (Nine).

According to PH notes, "In A Cool Dip, an African preacher-in-training (Harper) comes to a drought-stricken rural American community to further his studies in religion and water conservation. He stays with a mother (Taylor) and daughter (Muschett) haunted by personal tragedy and takes a special interest in a young orphan (King) starved for guidance. In the face of all obstacles he maintains an infectious, unstinting optimism determined to battle — by any means necessary — the personal and political forces that threaten the ecology of his new home."
