Among the April 16 opening night attendees at Jesus Christ Superstar were the leads of Kiss Me, Kate (left to right) Michael Berresse, Amy Spanger, Marin Mazzie and Brian Stokes Mitchell, former Rent cast member and TV star Neil Patrick Harris and TV actress Carla Bianco. Superstar, the musicalized story of Jesus Christ from Palm Sunday through the crucifixion, made its world premiere on Broadway at the Mark Hellinger Oct. 12, 1971 where it ran for 720 performances. This revival, based on Gale Edwards' Newcastle, England and subsequent West End stagings, runs at the Ford Center for the Performing Arts with Glenn Carter, Tony Vincent and Maya Days as Jesus, Judas and Mary Magdelene.
