Some of the many notables who attended the annual event are seen at left and below. They included costume designer Martin Pakledinaz, producer Stewart Lane, producer Bonnie Comley, and writer/director Tina Landau. Comden's numerous contributions to the American musical theatre include Wonderful Town, Bells Are Ringing, Peter Pan, On the Town, The Will Rogers Follies, On the Twentieth Century and Billion Dollar Baby, among others.

The ceremony was held at the Players Club at 16 Gramercy Place in New York City.
