News PHOTO CALL: Tyne Daly, Terrence McNally and Bobby Steggert Honor Patti LuPone at HRC Gala Two-time Tony Award winner Patti LuPone was honored with the Ally for Equality Award during the Human Rights Campaign's greater New York gala Feb. 8. Guests included Murray Bartlett and Frankie Alvarez, from the HBO series Looking.


LuPone was honored alongside Architectural Digest editor-in-chief Margaret Russell, who also receives the Ally for Equality Award.

According to the HRC, "As a singer and actress, Patti LuPone has publicly supported LGBT equality for many years and has said that her vocal LGBT following gives her credibility."

U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder headlines the event that features interior designer Nate Berkus as a special guest. Alcoa, Inc. will be presented with HRC’s Corporate Equality Award.

The Human Rights Campaign is the nation's largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender civil rights organization.
