Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward paid a visit to the cast of The Best Man Sept. 23 at the Virginia Theatre. Best Man playwright Gore Vidal (sitting) was also there. Gore Vidal's The Best Man, a three-act drama set at a 1960 Presidential Convention in Philadelphia, began performances at the Virginia Theatre Sept. 5. The revival (the original Best Man premiered at the Morosco Theatre March 31, 1960) runs through Dec. 31. Ethan McSweeny directs stars Charles Durning, Spalding Gray, Chris Noth, Elizabeth Ashley, Christine Ebersole and Michael Learned.
