News Piazza's Morrison Cast in Pilot Penned By Frog and Toad's Reale Matthew Morrison, who earned a Tony nomination for his work in The Light in the Piazza, has been cast in a new pilot for NBC.

Variety reports that Morrison will join Cary Elwes and Missi Pyle for "Sky," which is being written by Willie Reale. The latter penned the book and lyrics for the short-lived Broadway musical A Year with Frog and Toad. According to the industry paper, Elwes will star in the comedy as "politician Mark Haskett, who dies and is given a second shot at living in the guise of another character, Chris Dalness." Morrison will play Hudson Chanticleer with Pyle as Heather Haskett.

"Sky" is being produced by NBC Universal TV and Conaco.

Matthew Morrison, who received a 2005 Tony nomination for his performance as Fabrizio Naccarelli in The Light in the Piazza, most recently appeared on Broadway in the new Richard Greenberg play A Naked Girl on the Appian Way. Morrison received an Outer Critics Circle nomination for his role as Link Larkin in the original cast of Hairspray, and his other Broadway credits include Footloose and The Rocky Horror Show as well as the national tour of Footloose. His screen credits include "Marci X," "Primary Colors," "Simply Funky," "Sex and the City," "The Journey of Allen Strange" and "Hack." He was also recently seen in the new television production of "Once Upon a Mattress."
