SAN DIEGO -- Pippi Longstocking, a musical based on the classic series of children's stories written by Astrid Lindgren, ends its run at Casa del Prado Theatre March 12. The show, running in Balboa Park since Feb. 25, is sold out for the rest of the run. San Diego Junior Theatre is the producer.
Pippi is a street-smart young girl living in a Swedish village who is trying to escape the clutches of the Child Welfare Board. Pippi must use all her wiles to survive on her own, all the while clinging to the hope that her pirate father will come to her rescue.
The production features actors, music and songs -- and a few live animals. San Diego Junior Theatre works to encourage creativity, self-esteem and enjoyment of theatre arts in young people. For tickets and information call (619) 239-8355.
Next up for San Diego Junior Theatre will be Meredith Willson's The Music Man, April 14.
