The balanced budget is presumably dependent on a new contract agreement with PBT's musicians. The musicians' current contract expired yesterday, the last day of the fiscal year, and talks are stalled. Musicians have told the media that PBT management has asked them to accept a pay cut.
The leadership of the company also remains uncertain. Robert Petrilli, a former executive at the PBS station WQED, has served as interim managing director since February. A spokesperson for the company told the Post-Gazette that she didn't know whether he would be asked to stay on for the upcoming season.
