Classic Arts News Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre Says It Has Reached Balanced Budget for 2005-06 The board of Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre has approved a budget for the 2005-06 season that eliminates the $1 million deficit the company suffered from this past season, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Officials would not say what cuts had been made or what additional revenue had been found.

The balanced budget is presumably dependent on a new contract agreement with PBT's musicians. The musicians' current contract expired yesterday, the last day of the fiscal year, and talks are stalled. Musicians have told the media that PBT management has asked them to accept a pay cut.

The leadership of the company also remains uncertain. Robert Petrilli, a former executive at the PBS station WQED, has served as interim managing director since February. A spokesperson for the company told the Post-Gazette that she didn't know whether he would be asked to stay on for the upcoming season.
