Side Show, which originally opened on Broadway in 1997, will return to The Great White Way this season at the St. James Theatre, opening Nov. 17. The Bill Condon-directed revival, which is "set against the backdrop of 1920’s and 30’s show business," according to press notes, "seamlessly blends the worlds of carnival, vaudeville, and Hollywood glamour." With a score by Leonard Bernstein, Betty Comden and Adolph Green, On the Town opened on Broadway in 1944 and has previously been revived twice on Broadway. A third revival is set to open this season at the Lyric Theatre Oct. 16. "The Bronx is up, the Battery's down, and three sailors are hoping to get just a little bit lucky on their one day of leave in the Big Apple," according to press notes. "From the Brooklyn Navy Yard and Coney Island to Times Square and Carnegie Hall, On the Town zigzags through New York City as the sailors and the three high-spirited young women they meet chase love, dreams, and each other during an unforgettable day in the city that never sleeps." Rodgers and Hammerstein are coming back to Broadway. A revival of their classic musical The King and I is set to open on Broadway in 2015 with five-time Tony nominee Kelli O'Hara as Anna Leonowens.

This Jason Robert Brown musical, which played a short engagement at New Jersey's Paper Mill Playhouse in 2013, is set to open at the Nederlander Theatre Jan. 15, 2015. According to press notes, the musical "tells the story of Jack Singer, a regular guy with an extraordinary fear of marriage, who finally gets up the nerve to ask his girlfriend Betsy to marry him. But when they head to Las Vegas to get hitched, smooth talking gambler Tommy Korman, looking for a second chance at love, falls head over heels for Betsy. What happens next is anybody's bet!" With music and lyrics by Sting, The Last Ship is set to open at the Neil Simon Theatre Oct. 26, with previews beginning Sept. 30. According to producers, this original musical "is set in the English seafaring town of Wallsend, a close-knit community where life has always revolved around the local shipyard and the hardworking men construct magnificent vessels with tremendous pride. But Gideon Fletcher dreams of a different future. He sets out to travel the world, leaving his life and his love behind. When Gideon returns home 14 years later, he finds the shipyard's future in grave danger and his childhood sweetheart engaged to someone else. As the men of Wallsend take their future into their own hands and build a towering representation of the shared dream that defines their existence, Gideon realizes that he left behind more than he could have ever imagined." Bruce Kennett: The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time. A smash hit in London!
Based on the Mark Haddon novel of the same name, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time is set to open on Broadway at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre Oct. 5. The London production won seven Olivier Awards, including Best Play. Check out this video from the West End production's media day.
Claudine Kastner: The Elephant Man.
Bernard Pomerance's The Elephant Man is set to begin previews at the Booth Theatre Nov. 7 prior to an official opening Dec. 7. Originally produced in 1979, the revival will star Bradley Cooper as John Merrick, the Elephant Man. Here's how the play is billed: "From a desperate existence in a Victorian freak show to his days as the toast of London high society, the life of John Merrick, the Elephant Man, has fascinated the world for well over a century. Though his disfigurement brought notoriety, it was his unblemished inner humanity that most astonished those around him, compelling examinations of their own prejudices and beliefs"
Janet Moskowitz: You Can't Take It With You
A comedy by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart, You Can't Take It With You began previews at the Longacre Theatre Aug. 26 with an official opening scheduled for Sept. 28. The starry revival features Tony winner James Earl Jones and Tony nominee Annaleigh Ashford. The production is set to run through Jan. 4, 2015.
