Hometown: |
New York City, baby! |
Zodiac sign: |
Aries |
Audition song: |
"Cry On My Shoulder," Bonnie Raitt or "Ain't It Good," Children of Eden |
Special skills: |
I have some funny characters and voices I like to do, and I can do fun things with my big ol' eyeballs, like close 'em one at a time and other things like that. It's more fun than it sounds, I swear. And accents and dialects. |
First Broadway show ever saw: |
A Chorus Line |
If you could go back in time and catch any Broadway show, what would it be? |
That's a toughie. I missed out on seeing Ruined last year and I'm still disappointed. I know that was Off-Broadway, and therefore I'm not answering the question, but it's what comes to mind. |
Favorite showtune: |
I love the song "Barcelona" from Company. And the entire West Side Story score is just so beautiful. |
Most played song on your iPod: |
Joni Mitchell, "The Last Time I Saw Richard" |
Web obsession: |
Gilt Groupe |
Last book you read: |
Michael Pollan's "In Defense of Food." I've just started "The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao," by Junot Diaz. I'm eating it up. |
Must-see TV show: |
Currently, "Lost." For all time, "The Wire." |
Last good movie you saw: |
Eek. Haven't seen anything recently. But just started watching "Mad Men" on DVD and it pleases me. |
Favorite board game: |
LIFE |
Performer you would drop everything to go see: |
Michael Jackson? :( |
Pop culture guilty pleasure: |
"America's Next Top Model" |
First stage kiss: |
I think it must've been with Ford Harris in a high school production of The Taming of the Shrew. I loved him in real life too. |
Favorite pre-/post-show meal: |
Pre-show tends to be protein and greens, usually something light from Green Symphony. Post-show I often crave a turkey burger from 5 Napkin but end up standing in the kitchen with a spoonful of peanut butter instead. |
How you got your Equity card: |
I did Caroline, or Change in LA and San Francisco with a cast primarily made up of actors who'd done the show on Broadway. I was a standby and it was the coolest gig to have to be offstage for, because those performances slayed me night after night. Sooooo good! |
Worst missed cue: |
Hahahaha. Once on tour with Rent I was running to make an entrance and fell. I didn't make it to the stage on time, but my mic was up so everyone heard me yell "sh*t!!!!" Awesome. |
Worst costume ever: |
A floppy hat with a big flower on it, a long patchwork skirt, an apron, a high-necked spandex shirt, some other layer that resembled a doily, rainbow socks, and chunky Mary Janes. All of those things gracing my body in tandem! Blossom Russo meets Mrs. Butterworth. I had that costume on for like an hour in tech before our director was like... "OK, no." |
Pet's names: |
When I was growing up I had a fish named Moustache. |
Favorite junk food: |
Cheeseburger with avocado and mushrooms and a glass of red wine. Or coconut milk ice cream. Or both. |
Who would play you in the movie? |
Um... Lisa Bonnet? Rosario Dawson? Rebecca Gayheart? |
TV or commercial gig you most enjoyed: |
I enjoyed shooting an episode of the new "Electric Company" series. Everyone was really friendly and mature and easy to talk to, and the writing was quirky and sweet. I played an alien. |
Leading lady role you've been dying to play: |
There's a play I did a few readings of last year that I'm just itching to do in a full production. I don't want to be more specific, in case they move on without me. Got to protect my ego! |
What other rock artist's work would you love to see turned into a musical? |
Ben Folds! |
