Marci Crestani's Against the Glass will have its world premiere at the Court Theater, March 10, starring Joe Medalis, Saxon Trainor, Doug Vogel and Shannon Welles. Jenny Sullivan is the director.

The play deals with Amy, an artist who flees an affair with a married gallery owner and returns to her home in rural Illinois, moving in with her elderly grandparents. While the old folks try and understand both her life choices and abstract art, she encounters an old flame who shakes up her own moral and artistic complacence. The collision of human forces rocks the foundation of her grandparents' seemingly solid 60-year marriage. Amy learns that "even at 80 you can still be beating your wings against the glass."

Crestani (previously writing as Marci Slade) is a former magazine editor and journalist who has written extensively for national women's magazines. She was a weekly humor columnist at the Los Angeles Daily News before moving to the Valley edition of the Los Angeles Times, where she wrote a weekly lifestyles column. Against the Glass was selected as a finalist for the 1999 Humana Festival.

Court Theater is located at 722 N. LaCienaga Blvd. For tickets and information call (310) 289-2999.
