News Premiere of "Forever Plaid, the Movie" to Benefit Musical Theatre West The world-premiere screening of "Forever Plaid, the Movie" — the film version of the musical revue featuring the hit songs of the fifties — on March 14 will benefit Musical Theatre West.

Under the direction of creator Stuart Ross, the screen adaptation of the hit musical was filmed in Los Angeles in August 2008. The cast includes Jersey Boys' Daniel Reichard (as Francis), Larry Raben (as Sparky), Stan Chandler (as Jinx) and David Engel (as Smudge). Tony winner David Hyde Pierce (Curtains) also lent his voice to the proceedings.

The "first look" screening of "Forever Plaid, the Movie" will be presented as part of a benefit evening at the Carpenter Performing Arts Center in Long Beach, CA. The evening commences with dinner at 6 PM, followed by the screening of the film and a dessert reception.

Stuart Ross will also join Reichard, Raben, Chandler and Engel to participate in a question-and-answer session following the screening.

In addition to regularly priced tickets for the event, Music Theatre West is also auctioning off a package that includes VIP seating to the screening, autographed posters and sheet music, as well as the chance to hear a song of the winner's choice sung in the "Plaid" style by members of the original cast of Forever Plaid.

Forever Plaid, according to press notes, "centers on four young, eager male singers killed in a car crash in the 1950s on the way to their first big concert, and now miraculously revived for the posthumous chance to fulfill their dreams and perform the show that never was." The film's creative team includes set designer Neil Peter Jampolis, musical director David Snyder and costume designer Deborah Stein. The film is produced by Benni Korzen, Barney Cohen and Suren M. Seron.

An official wide-release date for "Forever Plaid, the Movie" has not been announced.

Tickets, ranging $20-$75, are available by phoning (562) 856-1999 X4, or by visiting the Musical Theatre West box office at 4350 E. 7th Street in Long Beach, CA.
