“Garry Marshall dreamed of bringing his beloved film Pretty Woman to Broadway as a musical. His dream has come true...and then we move forward launching the second production of this romantic, new musical in Germany,” says producer Paula Wagner. “Widely embraced in Germany, Pretty Woman has had an extremely strong connection resonating with audiences from Hamburg to Berlin to Munich.”

The German engagement will be presented by Stage Entertainment. Performances will begin September 23; casting to be announced.

Based on the Julia Roberts-Richard Gere movie about a star-crossed meeting between a sex worker and a disillusioned businessman, Pretty Woman: The Musical features a book co-written by the film’s director, the late Garry Marshall, and screenwriter J.F. Lawton, and music by Grammy winner Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance.

Following a world premiere in Chicago in March, Pretty Woman: The Musical opened on Broadway in August. Directed and choreographed by Jerry Mitchell, the contemporary stage adaptation stars Samantha Barks as Vivian alongside Andy Karl as Edward.

“Hamburg LOVES Theater and I LOVE Hamburg. I am thrilled to be returning to work with our friends at Stage Entertainment to launch the first International company of Pretty Woman: The Musical ,” said Mitchell.

Pretty Woman: The Musical is currently on sale on Broadway through September 1, 2019.
