Performances begin May 7 at Off-Broadway's Minetta Lane Theatre for the world premiere of Proof of Love by Chisa Hutchinson. The co-production from Audible and New York Theatre Workshop is directed by Jade King Carroll and stars Brenda Pressley.

Hutchinson's solo play, which was commissioned by Audible, tells the story of Constance, whose happy life and upper-class Black family is splintered by a sudden and tragic accident. As she attempts to piece together the decisions that led to this moment, Constance is forced to re-evaluate her own prejudices within the Black community.

Proof of Love is the inaugural production to come out of Audible's Emerging Playwright program, which currently includes 25 commissions. As with previous Audible productions at the Minetta Lane, the play will be recorded and released as an audio play.

The world premiere will officially open May 14.

The production's creative team is made up of Alexis Distler (scenic design), Jen Caprio (costume design), Mary Louise Geiger (lighting design), Justin Ellington (sound design), and Nikiya Mathis (hair and wig design).
