In 1996, the Protean Theatre Company staged the American premiere of Edward Ravenscroft's The London Cuckolds. Artistic director Owen Thompson and almost half of the original cast now remounts that production at New York City's Blue Heron Arts Center March 1-24. The official opening is March 5.

The play was originally written in 1681 and was produced annually for about seventy years. PTC use the adaptation by John Byrne that they used for the original production. In Cuckolds, the lustful klutz Ned Ramble attempts to sleep his way to the top of society, but the London ladies have something else in store for him.

Thompson directs the cast of Jerry Jerger, Michael Cone, Jenny Deller, Caroline Ficksman, Jeff Gurner, Michael Daly, Lance Windish, Eva Kaminsky, Lisa Ann Goldsmith, Jeffrey M. Bender, John Grace, Mark Cajigao and Kate Kenney. Set design is provided by Tony Andrea, lighting by Beth Amanda Hoare, and costumes by Hilary Oak.

For tickets to Cuckolds, at the Blue Heron, 123 East 24th St. (between Park and Lexington Ave.), call (212) 290-1595. For more information on PTC, visit their website at www.proteantheatre.com.
