Joining artistic director Oskar Eustis as associate artistic director is Mandy Hackett. Hackett worked as associate producer for the Public's production of In Darfur as well as the upcoming concert staging of Hair.

Former artistic director of the Naked Angels, Jenny Gersten, who produced Off-Broadway's Spalding Gray: Stories Left to Tell, joins the Public team as associate producer. Gersten will assist downtown productions at the Public in addition to the summer schedule for the Delacorte.

Peter DuBois will join the respected list of Public resident directors. Previous directors who have held the coveted position include George C. Wolfe, Michael Greif, David Greenspan, AJ Antoon, Wilford Leach and Gerald Freeman. DuBois, who also staged Jack Goes Boating for the LAByrinth Theater Company, has served as a director and associate producer for the Public for the past four years.

Heidi Griffiths, who has served as casting director for the Public for the past 14 years, will now join Jordon Thaler as co-head of the Public's casting department. Griffiths has been crucial in casting Public productions of Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Tempest, Take Me Out and Caroline, Or Change.

Joseph Papp founded the Public Theater in 1954, under the name of the Shakespeare Workshop. The theatre continues its legacy of producing new productions from emerging and established artists, as well as presenting new interpretations of Shakespeare and other classical works.
