In this episode, actress Penny (Kate Weatherhead) sits by her phone as she waits to hear back from casting agents and recent date Aaron Miller (Santino Fontana). However, the lies and dishonesty in the theatre world are starting to get her down. In the season one finale, Penny must deal with her problems until she receives some unexpected news that may change her life—for the time being.
“Submissions Only” was created by Weatherhead and Andrew Keenan-Bolger (Mary Poppins), who plays Donny Rich in the web series. Also featured in the episode are series regulars Colin Hanlon and Lindsay Nicole Chambers (Legally Blonde), and semi-regulars Fontana (…Earnest, Billy Elliot), Anne L. Nathan (Assassins, Thoroughly Modern Millie) and Annaleigh Ashford (Wicked).
