"It's in the beginning stages now, but we're writing the book, the screenplay," Spector told the Hollywood Reporter in an interview about the David Mamet HBO film "Phil Spector," starring Al Pacino.

"I have a confidentiality agreement about it," she continued, "so I can't really talk about it yet, but it's going really well. I do run everything. I hold the cards, so nothing can happen without me approving it. It's going to show a whole different side of my husband. My main focus is going to be on his career and how he changed music."

Rachelle Spector claims that the recent HBO television film, also starring Helen Mirren, is misleading and that the musical will be an accurate depiction of his life and work. In 2009 Phil Spector was convicted of second-degree murder in the 2003 shooting death of actress Lana Clarkson.

Phil Spector produced more than 25 Top 40 hits from 1960-65 and worked with artists including the Ronettes, the Crystals, Ike and Tina Turner, John Lennon, George Harrison, the Ramones and the Beatles, among others.

"It just depends on how far back I want to go, and getting rights for some of the John Lennon songs," she said about the musical. "There are a lot of people who, as you know, don't like my husband, so the music is really going to dictate the direction I go for the musical."
