News Ralph Fiennes to Direct Butler, Redgrave and Cox in "Coriolanus" Film Stage and screen veteran Ralph Fiennes is set to begin directing the William Shakespeare tragedy "Coriolanus" in Serbia, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Fiennes will also star in the leading role of the film opposite Gerard Butler, Vanessa Redgrave and Brian Cox. John Logan penned the script. The story of "Coriolanus" centers on a Roman general who betrays his homeland and allies with his sworn enemy Tullus Aufidius [Gerard] for revenge. Redgrave will take on the role of matriarch Volumnia, and Jessica Chastain will play Coriolanus' wife Virgilia.

The cast will also feature John Kani, Paul Jesson, James Nesbitt, Ashraf Barhom and Lubna Azabal.

Fiennes was most recently seen on Broadway in Faith Healer. He earned a Tony Award for his turn in Hamlet. Fiennes earned Academy Award nominations for his roles in "Schindler's List" and "The English Patient."

Joining Fiennes on the film will be cinematographer Barry Ackroyd and sound mixer Ray Beckett ("The Hurt Locker"). Fiennes and Logan will also produce along with Gabrielle Tana, Julia Taylor-Stanley and Colin Vaines. The production will also be backed by Hermetof Pictures, Magna Films and Icon Entertainment International in association with Lip Sync Productions, BBC Films, Kalkronkie, Atlantic Swiss Productions, Artemis Films, MagnoliaMae Films and Synchronistic Pictures on the Lonely Dragon Production.
