News Reading of New Musical Hee-Haw Will Be Held in Manhattan in December A two-week Equity staged reading of the new musical Hee-Haw, based on the classic TV series featuring music and comedy skits that ran from 1969-1977, will be presented at Pearl Studios in Manhattan, according to a casting notice.

Directed by Michael Barakiva, the reading is scheduled for Dec. 2-13.

Hee-Haw features a book by Robert Horn and music and lyrics by Shane McAnally and Brandy Clark. Martyn Axe is the musical director.

"All of the characters in this play from Cornfield County need a wholesome, down-home sensibility," according to the casting notice. "They can’t be 'in' on the joke. At the same time, all of the actors need impeccable comedic instincts and timing."

The upcoming audition is casting for the roles of Misty Mae, Bucky Jr., Lulu and Grandpa. The roles of Gordy and Jr. Jr. have been cast.
