The Red Bull Theater Company production of Women Beware Women began performances Dec. 9 and officially opened Dec. 13. Originally scheduled to run through Jan. 5, the production extended an additional two weeks at the Theater at St. Clement's. Red Bull artistic director Jesse Berger adapted the work, which features live musicians onstage with the cast. The company features Anthony Bagnetto, Jeff Biehl, Darcie Champagne, Geraint Wyn Davies, Jodi Epstein, Al Espinosa, Jacob Fishel, Jonathan Fried, Jennifer Ikeda, Lisa Helmi Johanson, Marc LeVasseur, Roberta Maxwell, Kathryn Meisle, Alex Morf, Alison Ostergaard, Everett Quinton, Liv Rooth, John Douglas Thompson and Shannon Wicks.
First published in 1657, Women Beware Women, according to press notes, "speaks with a shockingly contemporary voice about sexual politics, even as it is a playful parody of serious sexual games, ultimately showing a society imploding under the pressure of sexual manipulation, victimization and inequality."
Women Beware Women has original music by Scott Killian with choreography by Tracy Bersley and fight choreography by Rick Sordelet. Designs are provided by David Barber (scenic design), Clint Ramos (costume design), Peter West (lighting design) and Christopher Peifer (sound design).
